Spa Rally There will also be a title decider in the promotional cups!

The 2024 Belgian Rally Championship will come to its conclusion during the Spa Rally in two weeks. The championship final promises to be exciting and intense, especially in the two promotional cups participating: the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup Belux and the Clio Trophy Belgium.

In the Stellantis Motorsport Rally Cup Belux, the Opel Corsa Rally4 and Peugeot 208 Rally4 teams are heating things up. Recently, at the East Belgian Rally, Tom Heindrichs secured a victory in his home event, which allowed him to take the lead in the intermediate standings. Meanwhile, former leader Pierre-Manuel Brasseur faced issues with his car’s electronics. As they head into the Spa Rally, Brasseur will have to go all out to claim the title, while Heindrichs is determined to maintain his momentum. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the top Rally4 cars closely following the Rally2s in this thrilling competition.

In addition to the title fight, there are several contenders for victory worth keeping an eye on. Jonas Dewilde, who has already secured the title in Junior BRC, is one to watch. Maxim Decock is showing consistent improvement, while Lander Depotter, who has already clinched a win this year, and Steven Spittaels, who is ready to challenge the younger drivers, are also in the mix. Don’t forget about the German driver, Lukas Thiele, who aims to end the season on a high note. It promises to be an exciting event!

Advantage Netherlands

In the Clio Trophy Belgium, the focus is also on victory and the title. Leading the standings is the Dutch driver Nard Ippen, who performed strongly in Sankt-Vith. His main rival, Leny Cols – son of Larry Cols – looks to maintain his recent momentum after winning in the Omloop van Vlaanderen. Cols aims to capitalize on his home rally to put maximum pressure on Ippen.

Romanian driver Cristian Sugar, the season’s first winner, also hopes to finish this eventful championship positively. Young Thomas Martens is eager to showcase how his impressive international experience can make a difference. Similarly, Lyssia Baudet is competing in the Clio Trophy amidst her participation in WRC rallies, as part of the Beyond Rally Women’s Driver Development Programme. Other notable participants include Jo Muylle, currently fourth in the standings, and the young Joé Plattes, who seeks to gain more experience in the national rally championship.

There’s no doubt that the rallies-within-the-rally during the 2024 Spa Rally will generate plenty of excitement!
