Spa Rally Spa Rally: And away we go!
We've been discussing it for weeks, making plans and predictions, but most importantly, we are excited to be there! The wait is over: starting Friday, November 29th, the tenth edition of the Spa Rally will kick off, once again serving as the five-star finale of the Belgian Rally Championship!
Before the first special stage on Saturday morning, participants can take advantage of the Shakedown on Friday to make final checks and preparations for the first highlight: the Qualifying Stage on Friday evening. This stage is reserved for cars from the RC2, RC3, and RGT classes.
From 6 to 8 PM, each driver will complete two passes on a course similar to the Shakedown, starting in Winamplanche. The best time from the two runs will be recorded, and the ten fastest drivers will then take the podium to establish their starting positions! Fans won't want to miss this exciting event at the Place Royale, especially since the main teams will be present, and the cars will be displayed in ‘Parc Fermé’ mode at the foot of the podium. This is a great opportunity to collect selfies, autographs, and other souvenirs!
Saturday promises to be the longest day, featuring two passes on the stages of Renouprez, Bruyères, Fays Show, and Wanne, followed by a final loop that includes the first three special stages. The first drivers are expected to return to Spa around 8:30 PM, and by then, the national title race will surely see significant changes. For participants in Division 2 (2WD Trophy), the competition will conclude on this day, and the first trophies will be awarded.
On Sunday, two special stages will wrap up the last rally day of the year, with two passes in Chevron and three - including the Power Stage - in Trois-Ponts. At 4:45 PM, the overall winners - and the new Belgian champions? - will make their final appearance on the podium, followed by all the teams who completed the rally after two intense days.
Additionally, a verdict will be announced for the regularity teams, as the Spa Rally Classic will also conclude. The most consistent teams of the season will be recognized in both the VHRS 65 and VHRS 50 categories.
A few days after Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe claimed the world title, rallying in and around Spa will again capture attention during this eagerly anticipated event organized by DG Sport.
We wish everyone a wonderful rally! Please stay safe, respect the regulations, and most importantly, have fun on the special stages and in Spa’s rally centre!
