Spa Rally The Spa Rally final round of the FIA European Rally Championship 2020 !

The information has been in the offing for quite a while, but has now been officialised by Eurosport Events and DG Sport. Yes, the 2020 edition of the Spa Rally, which had been postponed last March for reasons we all know, prior to finding room in the calendar on the weekend of 12th and 13th December, will in fact act as the final round of the FIA ERC, namely the highly official European Rally Championship!

“For a while now we have kept an eye on the Spa Rally, and we were always impressed by the pro-active approach, the care taken for details, the organisational and promotional qualities of Christian Jupsin and his DG Sport team, Jean-Baptiste Ley, the ERC coordinator at Eurosport Events, commented. We had already considered that the Spa Rally should join the ERC, and we are delighted that these discussions resulted in the event’s integration for the first time in the calendar of the FIA European Rally Championship. It promises to be a spectacular final round of this present season.”

It goes without saying that in the DG Sport ranks the addition of the Spa Rally, as sixth and final round of the FIA ERC 2020, represents a cherry on the cake in a season filled with unexpected developments, and finally concludes with some good news. “It was in fact a project which we had already brought up in 2018, but which came to naught, Christian Jupsin, CEO of DG Sport, explained.  Circumstances linked to Covid-19 made it a whole new ball game, and I’m truly delighted. It’s a great satisfaction and an excellent recognition for DG Sport and its staff to be able to organise the final round of the FIA ERC 2020. In collaboration with the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps, the town of Spa and the municipalities that welcome the special stages, I can guarantee that we will put on a good spread to ensure that Spa Rally 2020 becomes one big rally party which will remain in everyone’s memory.”

In no way does the integration of the Spa Rally in the FIA ERC calendar modify the registration conditions … but will definitely boost the event’s international impact. Beyond any doubt, they will be rushing for the gates in the Spa region in the middle of December, and even on the European scene it will be known!
