Spa Rally Division 2, 2WD Trophy and many others!

There will be more than one Spa Rally at the end of this week! The competition for the overall victory and the national rally title will be intense, but the rallies-within-the-rally in other categories will also be exciting. For example, the final of the BRC 2024 counts towards Division 2, where all participants drive two-wheel drive cars. This category is identical to the 2WD Trophy and will take place on Saturday, meaning the final results will be announced after the first day.

The title in Division 2 (D2) is likely to go to Jérôme Septon and Valentin Willaert, who plan to give it their all at the wheel of their Peugeot 208 Rally4. They will face competition from several Renault Clios driven by Christiaan Spelmans, Antoine Luxen, and Laurent Vanton, who has 2WD Trophy champion Bruno de Wilde as his co-driver. Also worth watching is Luxembourg's Thierry Schloesser, driving a powerful Ford Escort Mk2 from the past. He will have to be kept an eye on, along with the Opel Corsas of Cédric Schmidt and David Bomblet, the Peugeot 208 R2s of Valentin Dozot and Stéphane Delporte, Philippe Delhez in his Opel Ascona, Eddy Buntinx with his Citroën Saxo, and the Peugeot 207 driven by the ladies Christelle Famerée and Ema Docquier!

Please note that some cars from the NAT2 and NAT3 categories are not eligible for the 2WD Trophy if they are registered for the entire rally, including Sunday. However, a fierce battle is expected among Rudi Remilly (with Guy Burniat in a Ford Escort Mk2), Geoffrey Horward (Renault Clio), Jean-Michel Dumont (Ford Fiesta R200), Cédric Blaise (Citroën Saxo), the ever-present Jacky Delvaux (Renault Clio), Jordan Remilly (Peugeot 206), Yves Dupont (Renault Clio), Michel Schmitt (Citroën Saxo), Michel Hannay (Talbot Samba Rallye), and Vincent Prégardien with his upgraded Ford Escort Mk2.

We can also expect three RC1 cars that will certainly draw attention. Among them is the Ford Escort RS Cosworth Gr. A driven by Christian Jupsin, who will don a racing suit and helmet for the occasion! He will be competing against Luc Pauwels’ Subaru Impreza 555 and Julien Henry’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evo9. That’s going to be a blast!

A piece of advice: don’t leave a special stage too early next weekend, as it won’t just be the stars of the Belgian Rally Championship who will be providing the spectacle!
